Lazy or Busy...Let the Money Decide

As I get ready to go off to college I have had to do several things prior to registering for classes and what I've come to realize is all anyone wants before they will help you is money, such as sending in transcripts. I thought that taking dual credit classes would be awesome, and in the long run it will be, but right now it is truly a pain in the rear end.

Not only do colleges charge a fee to mail an official transcript to the university you will attending but they also charge an additional fee for the UNOFFICIAL copy which all they have to do is fax which I think is a bit ridiculous and in some cases the unofficial copy costs more! The unofficial copy only serves a purpose to let the school know that you do indeed have a certain amount of credit hours coming into the school so you can sign up for classes.

Now when I contacted both the offices for UMKC and CMU after faxing my transcripts to verify they had arrived, I got mixed reactions. The first campus I called was CMU and from the get-go I knew I would be having problems with them after calling their Transcript Requests phone number which in fact is a pre-recorded message containing all the information someone may need to know how to send a transcript. Now...I am all for pre-record information because I know how annoying it is when people call for the same information over and over again but to my SURPRISE at the end of the pre-recorded message there was no "If you would like to talk to someone in our office please press 1" it simply just ended the call. Therefore, I had to attempt to call the three individual numbers in hopes of getting one person and finally succeeded and she was ever sooo pleasant. When I asked if she received the fax she complained and sighed and groaned saying she would have to walk down the hall and go check so as this kind elderly woman did so I was stuck listening to the ways that CMU could help further my education. About 5 minutes later she said they did receive it. Out of curiosity I asked when they would be sending it, not expecting it to be Friday but maybe Monday or Tuesday and this was her answer. "Well we have a long line of other people who have sent similar requests before yours but if you want to pay the additional priority processing fee of $20 we might be able to get it out by Wednesday of next week." I simply replied with, "No we won't be paying the additional fee" and hung up. After yelling and screaming and venting to my mother about how amazing the CMU faxing policy is, I took a deep breath...only expecting the worst from a much larger UMKC campus. However, when I called them asking the same information the guy took two seconds to check and said it should be getting sent out either Friday or Monday. Does any of this make sense to you because it surely doesn't to me!

*Advice: CMU please adapt your faxing policy and stop trying to charge ridiculous fees. Also lose the attitude because it is unneeded. All you simply have to do is answer our questions, fax our paper and then we will be out of your hair forever as we are off to bigger and better universities.

Gradu-Say-What?!

Today it totally hit me...I'm graduating from high school! All year I haven't really had that feeling of being a senior or that my time is almost up but today it hit me and the water works have begun all thanks to my lovely broadcast teacher Mrs. Brueck :)

As I was packing up she kept asking me about deadlines and when my last day was and when I said today it hit me...I won't be going to the Career Center everyday like I have for the past two years. I have become so routine to waking up between 5:45 - 6:30 every morning to get ready, drive to Hallsville and get on the bus to Columbia that not doing it ever again is going to be....different. Without the CACC, I know that I wouldn't be where I am today. Because of my broadcast classes I got to be the very first high school intern at KOMU and I'm so so SOOOO thankful for that.

Part of me is ready to leave Hallsville and the crap that is associated with the small town behind but as the clock runs down I'm going to try to make every moment count.

*Advice: Make every day count :D

Don't Tell Me To Change My Opinion

It really bothers me when someone tells me that my opinion is wrong because I'm telling the truth and they don't want to admit that. Yes, I know that everyone disagrees but one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone straight up lies to my face about a problem or incident.

As much I hate to admit it, I do not like being wrong...but if I am proven wrong I will admit that I wrong and apologize because that is how I would like people to respond to me. I am also a very truthful person because when it comes to how I am feeling or what I think I tell it how it is. I don't hide become some made up answer, I go by the facts because to me...that's all you can go on.

As high school comes to a close for me, people are letting the claws come out and I have been speaking my mind on many matters but my peers are not so found of it. I am entitled to my own opinion and thoughts and they can disagree with them all they want...that is until they start saying mine is wrong and making up information to "back them up".

*Advice: If something is messed up admit that you or the information is wrong. If you don't you are going to find yourself in a world of hurt and deep in lies. By admitting you were wrong up front you can save yourself time upfront. Also if you are going to make yourself up around your friends, either own it all the time or just keep your mouth shut!

Plus Size vs. Thin Size

ABC & FOX are weightiest networks! Recently they decided to not show a lingerie commercial involving Plus Size models for Lane Bryant saying it shows "TOO MUCH FLESH" which brings up the point...you allow half-naked dancers and Victoria's Secret commercials on your network where almost all the women are size zeros, twos or fours but when it comes to women with more meat on their bones it's a NO.

I am a plus size woman myself who has recently started eating healthier and working on my weight and I find this very offensive. The truth is plus size women are usually healthier then the women who are skin and bones. Men also prefer women who are on the larger end because truthfully they have more to love on especially when it comes to having boobs (that aren't fake or too big for their frame) and a butt. It's not that all plus size women are fat, but most of them do have thicker skin and a bigger overall frame. The measurement for plus size women and skinny women can not be measured the same way at all because they are completely different figures.

This is another reason that some girls starve themselves and have eating disorders because once again the idea of "thin being in" has been pushed into the public eye. This is promoting smaller sizes and that being thin is the way to go.

*Advice: Stop worrying about the size of women! Everyone is different and if you look around there are just as many if not more plus size women out in the world these days then there are skinny ones. Also plus size women need lingerie to make their men happy just as much as skinny women do so unless you want to lose a great advertising sponsorship show the ad and embrace the curvy women in the world!!

Go Back to Slytherin

Some people are just plain RUDE!!! I do not understand why people decide to dis others because they don't agree on the same thing OR because they do different things. If someone hasn't done anything to you I don't see any reason why you should be bashing them. We all do it at some times or judge someone before getting to know them but after I became best friends with two people I had judged before getting to know them I have made it a goal of mine to not be so judgmental.

Today while I was on the Mizzou Portal (which allows incoming freshmen to talk to each other and discuss different things) I saw a post that truly boiled my blood. This kid Kenny decided to hate on his roommate, who he knows NOTHING about and bitch about his situation all because he saw a picture of his roommate. All from this so called "picture" he has decided that his roommate is a virgin and loves Harry Potter so therefore he hates him.

This is another case where someone is being judged too soon and I feel sorry for him. I don't know who he is but I stood up for him because nobody deserves to be dissed like he was. For all we know he could be the tightest kid in the world and Kenny could be missing out because he is too big of a douche. I try to give everyone a chance but once you start bashing someone you don't know that chance is gone.

*Advice: Kenny needs to switch rooms so he can find a different roommate and everyone else can stop listening to him bitch and complain about how "bad" his roommate is. That way he will be happier, his roommate will have a better roommate than Kenny ever could/would be.

Jersey Goes South

It's official...Jersey Shore is headed to South Beach in Miami, Florida for Season Two.

Personally I feel this is a bit ridiculous due to the fact that the show is based off these guidos & guidettes "reppin' Italian" on the Jersey Shore. The so-called "fame" the cast now has has clearly gone to their heads. If it were up to me I would tell them to either stay at the Jersey Shore or take a hike. Mike "The Situation" is already cockier than ever and if he's not careful his head is going to explode...and it won't be due to any female activities either.

Even with this change of location, I can guarantee that I will be partaking in the watching and Tivo-ing of Season Two. Jersey Shore has to be one of the "best" guilty pleasure shows out there that makes you laugh out loud at how stupid these tanned drunken bimbos actually are. It also makes me appreciate my life and what I have even more. I will continue to watch this stupidity and be entertained by the ridiculousness of the Jersey Shore...even if it is in Miami. I would suggest a name change but South Beach Shore doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely as Jersey Shore does.

*Advice: MTV...grow some balls and put your foot down. Your television station is already going downhill and has been ever since the ending of TRL, which you were known for. If you continue to let these "Italian" kids run the network it won't be long before it's GTV.
